Dare # 6 Faye

I started with plain cardstock, added 7 pieces of patterned paper, buttons a little bit of stitching, some of my favourite chipboard, 5 photos and the words "five" added with the aid of the computer. Lots of fun and a good way to use up some patterned paper.

This was right up my alley. I looove mixing patterned papers. So here's my layout using 7 patterned papers exactly - 2 x Basic Grey, 2 x Scenic Route, 1 x American Crafts, Making Memories and 3 Bugs in a Rug. Wahoo.

I love the way Ali E punched out the little Basic Grey elephants in her layout in the July CK, Page 36. I just had to use that idea.

Dare # 6 - Lesley

This was a challenge for me! I do like patterned paper but somehow I rarely use it on my layouts so using 7 pieces definitely got me thinking. Using small pieces works for me. And I actually managed 9 pieces of patterned paper on this layout.

Dare # 6 - The patterned paper challenge ... and a competition!

Hey everyone, it's time for a new dare now that we've all recovered from CC06 and this week we've decided to change tack a little and have more of a product-based dare.

So the dare this week is: use 7 (or more) patterned papers on a layout.

Feel free to cover your whole layout with your papers or just use snippets, the only rule is they have to be 7 different patterned papers. This is a great way to use up scraps which is what i've done here. In fact i've just used my papers as they came out of my scraps file, no cutting and i've actually used 8 different patterned papers. Not sure if its readable but the title says "My Hopes for You". This is such a fun challenge - you can be completely random with your choices or go for similar colour schemes. As always please link us to your online gallery or blog in the comments section or email a pic to RANDLGRAY@xtra.co.nz (100kb or less) by Wednesday 6 September at 6pm.

And to top it all off this week again we are lucky enough to have a prize for our winner. The lovely Andrea from Scrapbook Outlet has kindly donated a fantastic prize for the winner of Dare #6.

Ilka!! (see below) I really like how she steered clear of a 'safe' subject and admitted a weakness in public like that. Just between me and you Ilka, I struggle with the same thing - perhaps that's why I liked your layout so much.

Dare # 5 - Guilty Pleasure

Wow, week number 5 already, time sure flies when you're having fun. And I think it is fair to say that we sure are all having fun setting these challenges and then creating a page with it. And judging by the growing number of entries we receive you are enjoying them too. However we do get the comment that five days is not a lot of time to participate in our challenges so we're going to try setting challenges every two weeks for a bit and see what happens. Please don't hesitate to leave us your thoughts on this, comments are always welcome.

Well with most of us at Crafting Connection it is up to me to post the next dare. (I am going to CC too, but not until tonight)

We'd like to share Kelly's layout this week. I love the way Kelly has put this layout together. I love the title, the journalling and the effect with the photos. The Chaos Within - very cool.

Dare 4 - Marieke

Been busy organising a birthday party for my now 6 year old. Eeek, I can't believe he's that old already. Here's my take on 'The Chaos Whithin'. My bag, I just jam everything in there until I can't find my keys anymore, which then signals a clean out of the bag. Unbelievable the junk I collect in there - total chaos within.

I made the background paper myself by using the netting from a potato bag as a stencil and painting over it with different hues of the same colour paint, changing the position of the netting as I went. And just added some very rough doodled strips on the dark pink mat as well.
Journaling reads:
I am not a hand bag girl so this little black backpack serves as one. It also seems to doubles as a storage space for all the things that I happen to collect as I go about my business. Every now and then, usually when I can’t find my keys anymore, it is time for a clean out. I tend to find long lost treasures living with the fist full of receipts that always end up on the bottom of my bag. Today’s recovery included: a puzzle piece, a battery, a toy drink bottle, a McDonald’s toy, a lighter, a hair clip, two chap sticks and of course a couple of dozen of receipts. There’has got to be a better way to control the chaos. Dated: 31/07/06

Dare 4 - The Chaos within! (Yolande)

OK so for me this dare raised many ideas! But this is what I settled on. Me...in my life right now. A busy working MUM who is struggling to balance all the things in my head. I stay up late at night because I can't sleep. I worry. I panic. I cry. I laugh. I yell. I need order. I eat what I like and then feel guilty. I need to take better care of myself... its chaos! I even used a green postit note to match the CherryArte paper. I use them lots to help get ORDER in my life!

Dare 4 - Trina's interpretation

HI! Well, this was a really interesting dare for me. There is so much going on in my own mind at the moment, with a new baby about to arrive (hopefully soon!), but it was going to be 'too much' to search for or take photos, get them printed etc so I took a different tack. I remembered this photo I had of my grandfather who was in World War II and what he must have gone through. The thoughts that must have raced through his mind at times would have been horrific and the photos he took (which I'm lucky to have now) with his own captions really do reveal alot. So I used this photo to highlight something totally different.

And I think that's what is so amazing about this blog. I have loved seeing everyones interpretations of the same dare each week. You ladies out there are so very talented and its wonderful to see so many LO's being created and sent in (and we know that there are even more that we don't get to see). Way to go ladies! Can't wait to see what you create this week.

Dare 4 - Andrea

Wow this was a tough one but yay it's done. My layout is all about self-doubt in being a first-time mother. I'm sure many other people can relate to this not just parenting-wise but in many aspects of life.

This was the perfect topic for me to depict just how James is feeling at the moment. He just doesn't know what to do next year. I have also been wanting to do a layout on a transparency after seeing a cool article in the latest Scrapbook Creations.

The bright colours, great photo and journalling of Jo's layout really caught my eye. The journalling which is under the magazine cover reads -

I'm so organised - yeah right!

Okay so I'm no Bree Van De Kamp but I have often been accused by friends of being VERY organised...(for instance when I made INDIVIDUAL cards with little doors and doorknobs for each friend/family member to tell them of our new address). I have a confession to make though...shhh! I'm not organised at all! In fact I'm mostly highly disorganised:
a.. I don't change my beds anywhere near as often as I should! (In fact I would be too embarrassed to confess how often.)
b.. The washing that needs to be folded is hiding in my laundry cupboard! (and will often sit there until next week's washing needs to be folded)
c.. I was 10 minutes late getting Sarah to dancing the other day because I just had to get some embroidery thread for a layout...and then I ran into a scrapbooking friend and just had to chat! Then I told the dancing teacher we were late because I got stuck in traffic!
d.. I was working on this layout when I was meant to be sending out invoices for our electrical business!
e.. If I make a layout at night I often go to bed and don't tidy up my scrapbooking mess until the next morning!
f.. I haven't written in my blog for a month!
g.. I scraplift!
So you see all you people that think I am so organised...I'm just like every other desperate housewife...we all have our naughty little secrets!
