Dare no.44

Hey everyone!

Sorry for the delay as I got back late from Wgtn today + also we have being invaded by foul tummy bugs in our house + while on hoilday too!!

I hope you are all enjoying your long weekend? And mum's are surviving the school holidays ?
Thank goodness for this fab weather so far!!

Anyway onto this fortnights dare.

It's all about numbers! They are everywhere, we learn about them from a young age, some of us are loving the number we are + some not! Some people work with numbers + some numbers have special meanings to us.

So I would love to see you use numbers in a tittle, used as a embellishment or maybe its in your story.

And this fortnights dare we are kindly sponsored by the lovely Elle from http://elles.etsy.com/

Please check out her wonderful fun products. Also she has a blog http://www.ellesstudio.blogspot.com/

I have used 2 of her products in my LO - the numbers + the journalling tag.

Post a link to your layout in the comments when you're done or send it via email to Lianne at RANDLGRAY@xtra.co.nz.

The Deadline for this dare is Wednesday 7th may 6pm.

I found number inspiration from Mr T when he started to count last year. He thought he was so right 2, 6, 4, 9!! ..............lol
And this FANTASTIC LO is from our guest designer Janine about her lucky numbers. Trina's LO

Vickys page...This is about Kayas favourite songs at the moment, he has just discovered music/abnds/singers and is loving the ipod...makes these musical parents very proud LOL! Sharon's page - the big boy has had a good start to the soccer season as you can see by the score lines :)
Lesley's

This dare was the perfect prompt to scrap Simon's birthday photos from Wednesday! I have used 8 8s, 8 stars, 8 photos and 8 journaling spots / prompts for his 8th birthday!

Sara-Jane's

A simple one to document the steps Max took to learn to waterski - basically 1,2, 3, up!

I wish I could do that!

Lianne's LO - do a LO about your favourite/lucky number. Will be interesting for your future generations to know.

Monique - I used a quote by Paulo Coelho which I love right now, it reminds me to find the 'magic moment' among the 1001 things that seem the same day after day!

Dare 43 Winners!

There were so many wonderful entries for this dare, I am so happy that the ad inspired all of you.

The winner of the beautiful prize (see below post) from the fabulous Scrapbook Store in Nelson http://thescrapbookstorenz.typepad.com/blog/ is Jeska (aged 13). Thanks to my son Max for doing the draw. I love the photos and design here, coincidentally it is my old school and school motto too!

Another huge thanks to the Scrapbook Store in Nelson for sponsoring this dare and providing such an amazing prize!

I have just spent a couple of hours trying to pick my favourite layout of all of these and it was really tough! I loved all of them but my favourite was this one by Gwendolyn and her use of green and the photos of the garden!
Gwendolyn, we'd love you to be our guest designer for Dare 45. Please email Lianne RANDLGRAY@xtra.co.nz to get the details.
Stay tuned for Dare 44 coming this Friday :)

Slide Show apologies

I apologize for not getting the Slide Show for Dare # 42 up yet, I'm not at work this week and all the pics are on my computer at work. I'll have it up for you early next week. It's just way too slow to try and attempt doing it on my dialup at home.

Dare no. 43

Hi everyone,

Long time no see! Sometimes life gets in the way and our hobbies are the first things to go. But when you have had a long enforced break like I have it makes you realise a couple of things. Like, how scrapbooking enables you to maintain perspective. When you are constantly recording and reviewing life's events, it helps you to remember all the good stuff, all the connections and all the stories. Which helps. So, it really should be the last thing you give up.

Anyway, I digess. My dare tonight is to take inspiration from the media, an ad in fact. As soon as I saw this ad, I saw several things in it that gave me inspiration. When I sat down to scrap it, I think I used all of them as it is a very literal interpretation of it. But the colours reminded me of all the new products that had just come in at work, and then I realised I should do a layout a bout a change in career path and the fact that I am really enoying working around beautiful things and being more creative after so many years in the law firms.

Post a link to your layout in the comments when you're done or send it via email to Lianne at RANDLGRAY@xtra.co.nz. The Deadline for this dare is Wednesday 23rd April 6pm.

This dare is proudly sponsored by the fabulous Scrapbook Store in Nelson http://thescrapbookstorenz.typepad.com/blog/

Here is the ad.

and here is my take on it...

And this gorgeous one from our guest designer Dallas Foley about the last day of kindy:

And this one from Donna, I just love this portrait of her daughter, what a character!

and also from Vicky about a day out with her son:

Sharon:

So, I hope you get at least one bit of inspiration from the ad, I am really looking forward to seeing what you come up with!
Sara-Jane

Hi Jo here, got mine done a little late to get in SJ's first posting but I have to say I loved doing this dare, having inspiration like that just makes everything so easy to put together. So here's my take on the ad...

Moniques:

Hi Rach here. Such a fantastic ad inspo to work with! I was really inspired by the frames + also I turned the ad 90 degrees!! Look forward to seeing how you all work this ad!!

Andrea's:
This ad is so great for using lots of photos from the same event. Thanks for the inspiration SJ!

And Lesley's

The song is one that the kids used to sing at school last year. Last week I went on a school trip to the local Refuse Transfer Station. I must admit it made me realise I could do more with regards to recycling and reducing rubbish. And so along with the wonderful ad inspiration this layout was born!
