OK so that's it then, done and dusted. Feels weird that I won't be doing this anymore. Feels like I'm shifting out or something, like this is the last once over before you turn off the light and leave for good.
Anyway thank you to everyone who helped keep this alive.
Our AWESOME contributors who I now call my friends - you guys are so talented and such lovely people, I've thoroughly enjoyed your company.

Hello and welcome to the very last NZ Dare. Its been a wonderful ride and I have enjoyed all of it. I got a huge creative push from the dares and am very thankful that I was asked to become a contributor. I would especially like to thank Lianne, the creative genius behind NZ Dares. All your efforts and time are HUGELY appreciated! Thank you

Without further ado I give you the final dare.

I'd like you to scrap a page about a choice you've made. It could be why you chose to have the lunch you did. Why you chose to marry the person you did. Why you chose to move to where you did. Big or little we make loads of choices every day and they shape who we are.

It's time for NZ Dares to say goodbye

Sadly we must say goodbye. It's time to hang up our dare boots. We have thoroughly enjoyed bringing the dares to you each fortnight over the last couple of years, and it has certainly challenged us (in a good way) coming up with fun and different ideas for you.

It is mainly due to the drop in interest, but also other commitments we all have. So without further adieu our next dare will be the last dare and that will be it. Finito.

We'd love to see some of our old darees participate in this final challenge. Hope you can all join in.

Hello! Time for another dare.

This fortnight we're calling it "The Traffic Light Dare!" It's all to do with the meaning of the traffic light colours.

You can scrap based on any one or all 3 of the traffic light signs -

STOP - something you need to QUIT doing

AMBER - things you need to SLOW DOWN with, maybe think about

GREEN - something you need to GO ahead with.

The layout needs to feature the traffic light colour somewhere too.

We have 2 Guest Designers this week.

The GD chosen from Dare 63 was Tessah Aihara from Japan. She tells us she's relatively new to scrapping! Tessah, we LOVE your work. Here's what Tessah had to say about the process of her layout:

A birthday always marks a new beginning. For me, its the best time of the year to evaluate yourself as a person, reset your goals if necessary and change bad habits that didn't help you in the past years. And the most important thing for me on my birthday is looking on the brightest side of my life. Turning 27 made me realize the bad and the good things I had for the past 26 years. I had the attitude and bad habits that I stopped doing, I have some parts of me that i have to slow down and keep on my waiting mode and the best part is I have this something or should I say I have this someone that I will want to go on with forever and just stay as it is for the longest time that I could.

She also adds that she "also distressed the picture by turning it into a puzzle piece and ink each piece."

I also asked the lovely Annette Hanigan from Australia to be my Special Guest Designer. As a fellow Ambassador for Fiskars, I've often admired Annette's artistic approach to her projects and she certainly hasn't disappointed with her contribution to this dare. I love her colourful creation!

Annette said the dare immediately brought to mind a song from her son's pre-school days which sparked her idea for this layout!

I always love hearing how creative inspiration comes about. This proves, it comes from anywhere!

You'll see from the closeup shots that Annette has used oil pastels which she says were just a cheap dept store purchase. I love the literal inclusion of the traffic light circles too.

Thanks so much for being our Guest designers Tessah and Annette and for providing us all with some colourful inspiration.

As for me, well I've been mulling lots of things over lately and trying to sort out lots of creative ideas I have. I always collect a lot of visual inspiration and am finally going to make an Inspiration Board so it's all in one place, where I can see it together and change it as I find new inspiration. This was the starting point for me...

I was talking to my 9 year old daughter about my muddled thoughts and in her best school teacher voice, she told me I need to list my ideas and then edit them and work on developing my favourites! LOL. And so that became the focus of my journaling. I decided to make a cardboard 'frame' for my photo and my project will stand on my desk as an affirmation of what I'm going to do! I used subtle touches of green for Go.

Last Spring I tried out vege gardening as part of going green. Some success, some failure, lots of lessons :

I went with using the colours of red (paint), amber (pp) + green (cs) for my LO. And as well for the journalling I used the words we use when we are at the traffic lights waiting for the lights to turn green with the kids.

Hi everyone.
Welcome to another dare.

This fortnight I've decided to follow on from Rach's colour dare by looking at colour (or lack of) in our photos.

Your dare this fortnight is to use both black and white and colour photos in the same LO. If you're only using one photo, then you need to make part of the photo black and white, and part of it colour.

For this dare I've asked a wonderfully inspirational lady from Australia - Shirley Fyfe - to join us as our special guest designer. She has long inspired me with her use of colour, photos and general amazingness (is that a word? LOL) in her LO's that I thought she would be perfect to guest blog with us.
She had created the following LO to share....

Don't you just LOVE how she has used the main colours from her photos to create the base of her LO. And I especially love how the title's wonkiness makes you really feel like the LO is vrooming! Thanks so much for sharing your delightful work with us Shirley.

We are also lucky to have Erica designing for us this fortnight as well. Check out what she has done to inspire you.....

By putting the colour photo in between two black and white photos and little colour on the LO itself, the colour photo really stands out and the whole design makes for a very striking LO.

Dare 63

Hi everyone

so we have apparently moved into the Autumn season...........one that I do love as its full of warm days, cooler nights + gorgeous colours.

So with these thoughts I have been inspired to create a dare for you all using colour.

Its everywhere, we have our favourites, we wear it, we eat it + we create by it whether its a paper creation or maybe a room you are decorating at home.

So I would love to see your take on what colour means to you. Maybe you want to scrap with your favourite colour, create a LO using a photo of favourite coloured shoes or room at home.........you get the idea.

And for this dare I have asked a special guest designer Gigi Kennedy.
Gigi lives in the US, with her husband + 3 lovely kids. She is currently on the Tarisota + Kenner Road design teams.

Gigi's creations have a lovely fresh feel to them + she has this amazing talent to whip up such inspiring canvas's using awesome quotes.

This is what GiGi said about her LO

I actually created this layout for claudine hellmuth's new book "the scrapbooker's creativity kit". My assignment & challenge was to create a project using the colors blue & purple with the "theme" of play. So for me, the entire jumping off point for this layout was color. It is definitely fun creating designs based on color.

“i've been told many times that when it comes to scrapbooking - i'm 'good with colour'. purple's one of my favourite colours and i think the sepia tone of this photo lent itself well to the double-sided brown paper. As for the subject? My second youngest daughter is not only a gorgeous photographic subject, she spends a good deal of her time deep in thought!”

With mine I went with the rainbow. I seem to tend to sway to the brighter colours when I scrap + in my everyday I seem to wear brights against my black whether it be my shoes, a cardi or my handbag.
And Vicky's.

We are really influenced by the natural world in our house, especially when we think about the colours we use in our home, sticking with mainly greens, browns and blues. The tones I have used in this layout also relate themselves well to Arlos soft, laid back personality. Donna

I was inspired by the gorgeous rainbows we see from our place. Sadly, have never found that pot of gold yet... Lesley - I was inspired by this photo with the bright yellow and orange dominating. Colours symbollic of fun and playfulness.

Sharon – well my favourite colour is black – but I included a few others on the layout just for fun:

Lianne - I am always in awe of the colours in flowers. They are always so perfect and rich. The bright yellow in these flowers in the photo inspired me to create this bright and colourful LO.

I don’t know where the time went but believe it or not, it is time for our next dare. As it is still close to the beginning of the year and school has just gone back, I was thinking about

new beginnings

and so that is the theme for this week’s dare.

Our guest designer Sarah made a beautiful page celebrating her new nephew. Isn’t he gorgeous!

So what did you learn in 2008. Anything? You must have learnt something.

Were you like Lesley and Sharon and learnt more about something they love to do. Or were you like Trina, Lara and our guest designer Corinne and learnt you need to slow down, live life and listen to your heart. Vicky learnt lots of things, check out her gorgeous Art Journal card. I learnt that as I'm getting older I just need to have fun and enjoy life.

We're having a couple of changes on NZ Dares this year. We won't be having sponsors anymore unless someone really would like to sponsor a dare, we certainly won't say no. We'd really appreciate it in fact.

What we will be doing is having a special guest designer for each dare, someone specially asked by the person setting the dare.

AND we'll still have our guest designer favourite from a previous dare.

AND we might have the occasional RAK

Hello Daring persons...
There can be heaps of warm fuzzy moments at this time of year (amidst the busyness)...saying thank you to your child's teacher, decorating a tree, watching a nativity play, singing Christmas Carols, eating cake...

So my dare to you is to get warm & fuzzy...the only requirement is to use some fuzzy texture on your page - like felt, velvet flocking, or something else soft to touch. You can choose to put some warm fuzzy feelings in there if you like too :-) maybe you could use this dare for a thank you gift for someone special...you just have to use some fuzzy texture!

Our sponsor for this dare is Niella & Bee from Random Kits & Pieces and the winner of this dare will receive a $20 voucher to be spent in their online store....but wait, there's more, Niella is also adding in a pack of 3 fat quarters that she was saving for next years kits - so you'll get what no one else has yet! Hello fellow darers!!

Well the weather is gradually warming up and we are able to get out and enjoy the outdoors more at last!

For this dare lets be inspired by Mother Nature....create a layout using a photo with a nature theme....the photo must have no people in it....your layout must also include a Haiku poem which can be composed by you or somebody else

Here is a little background info on Haiku poetry...

Haiku is a Japanese verse form that relies on brevity and simplicity to convey its message. It is usually three lines of five, seven, and five syllables, and frequently includes natural images or themes. It is believed to have been first written in the seventeenth century and is based on a Zen Buddhist philosophy of simplicity and the idea of perfection that excludes the extraneous.

This simple form of poetry goes really well with beautiful images of nature so I am looking forward to what you put together! Just pop haiku into google and you will find plenty of inspiration or visit your the poetry section at the library.

Dare 58 - T-Shirt Inspiration

Welcome to Dare 58. We have a very cool dare and sponsor for you this week.

Michelle from Purple Onion Designs has very wonderfully agreed to be the sponsor of this week's dare. And the prize is a very cool NEW date set. It comes in french too so you can choose whether you want the english version or the french version!

As I'm sure you know this is a big scrapping weekend. Im sure loads of you are at SENZ and for those of you who aren't heres a dare to keep you going.

Meek - Hi everyone, for this dare I've created a lovely simple mini album for a very sweet, very special little dog who came into our lives just after hubby and I were married...though she had a serious illness she was full of spirit and gave us much joy...sadly just before we came back to NZ from the UK we had to make the heart breaking decision that many pet owners have made before us....

we have a great little collection of photos from her time with us, she went absolutely everywhere we went, camping, to ireland, kayaking up the river and adored riding in the car sprawled out on the backseat on to her next adventure...as you can see I have not yet finished compiling all the pages but it feels great to be getting Hilda's story out and reliving some fun memories.....

New Dare - 55

Hi everyone. Trina here.

Its that time again. Time for a new dare. And this fortnight we're daring you to document your life. Either "a day in the life of", or a 'month in the life of' or 'a year in the life of'....get it?

I've often seen people do pages like this and then talk about how they go back a year or more later and realise how much their lives have changed. It made me want to do one too. That was over a year ago.

I figured that if I'm like this, you might be too. Wanting to do a page, but just not quite getting around to it.

So our dare to you this fortnight is to document your life. Do a page about what you are currently doing, what you've done in the last week or month, or even year. Take the time to think about all those things you do and then write them down. Take some pics, or dig them out of your stash and create.

Hi everyone! Donna here.

I guess I've always been fascinated with scale. In landscaping you place small plants to counter-balance tall/big plants and in interiors we often do the same... a small wall often looks better with a large piece of art, whereas a big wall space may look better with a series of smaller artworks and a large piece of furniture underneath.

SO... we've decided to dare you to use extremes of scale in a layout. Big versus small, in clothing terms XL vs XS, or even XXL vs XXS.

You may decide to use large & small photos, or small photos and large alphas. It's up to you! Mix it up and have FUN!

There's an awesome prize again for this dare. Up2Scrap have very generously donated a year's subscription to their magazine! That's 4 issues of great inspiration! (and just as a side note - the search for the new Elite Team is on but closes 20th September... so if you're thinking of entering you'll need to get on to it this weekend!).

Here's my layout. I was inspired by this photo of my daughter, taken by photographer Fiona Pierson. The size of the photo, or rather the face close up has prevented me knowing how to scrap it before, but using large and small brackets, varied size numbers & embellishments just seemed to work.

Hey everyone, Rach here - hows it going?

All looking forward to Spring........I certainly am!!

So this time round I dare you to scrap the weird + strange.

Have you got any photos where someone is doing something strange or appears in your photo without you knowing? Or maybe you have a strange or weird story to share!!

As you know we have made a group on Flickr. Great to see people joining up. From now on all entries will go into the Flickr group + not to Lianne. You can still leave a link in the blog comments. If you don't have a Flickr account don't panic they are easy to make.

Privacy is all good + we suggest you make a tag which allows it to be private to the group.

Suggestion from Sharon about tags.
When making your Flickr tags, don't put in spaces. It treats each word as a separate tag unless you put quotes around them (so much easier just to do one word like nzdares53 or something). If you click on a tag on a photo, it brings up all the other photos with that tag (quite cool).

Journalling reads - There is nothing more creepy when you check your photos + discover a extra person in your shot.............but with only 1 eye showing!!!

With the Olympics in full swing, I thought that a sports theme might be in order. Now don't panic if you are sports challenged (she says, putting her hand up). We are looking at sport in the widest possible sense - kids games, as a spectator, memorabilia, your exercise program or even a layout on how much you hate sport! And to honour all those men and women in Beijing who have trained so hard for this moment, your layout must include (at least) five circular elements (paper, cardstock, brads, tags - whatever - as long as it is a circle). Go NZ!!

This dare is about 'Patterns'.

def: arrangement of repeated parts or decorative designs.

I've noticed patterns are very popular lately, e.g. houndstooth, harlequin, checkered, spots, argyle etc.
Use a pattern at least once on your LO, can be a piece of fabric, a stamp, a piece of p/p, make a pattern on a background. Like Rach used the houndstooth stamp repeated down the side of her LO from dare # 49.
So think of a creative way to use a pattern or patterns on your LO.

Here's my LO. I've used an old making Memories stamp repeatedly to make the background and then I've used other patterns on my LO like the checkered fabric, the scalloped edges of the lace and the c/s and the diamond stamp at the top.

WELCOME everybody... to No.8 wired's 50th Dare!!!

Firstly.....

...I would like to ask Lianne to come on down and take a bow, we thank you for all your work behind the scenes pulling the dares together every fortnight to bring inspiration to NZ scrappers!

Ok so a little recap.... two years ago Lianne gathered up a group of scrappers from all around the country to begin NZ's first 'Dare' challenge blog....50 fabulous dares later...and here it is still going strong...if you feel like taking a little trip down memory lane check out the archives entry for July 2006 in the sidebar for Dare #1...

The very first Kiwi Daredevils who offered up their versions of each dare to inspire us all were the very talented Lianne Gray, Nic Howard, Wendy Redshaw-Bruhns, Yolande Fenneman, Evana Willis, Marieke Broekman, Lesley Cooper, Andrea Senn, Trina McClune, Sarah-Jane Bunting, Rachel Hosking, and Faye Gregory......along the way as some retired from the Daredevil way of life others were recruited to the present list of dare girls.......who you can find over there on the side bar too lol!

Every dare the Daredevil team aim to prompt your creativity a little, get the mojo going, have some fun and maybe try something a little out of the ordinary!

Brilliant just like a good scrappy challenge…preparing yourself, getting all the mushy emotive stuff down in writing, the drama of choosing just the right patterns and embellies, the rush of creating to a deadline, throwing a little hissy fit now and then when something won’t come together…putting yourself out there for others to see…all good stuff.

Here is an absolutely gorgeous layout from our guest designer Kate Anderson. I love how she has stamped the background behind the photo and her embellishments, and I also love the journalling...just perfect!

And here is mine:

I used a "summer" text stamp around the edge of my background as a border, stamped the flourishes and then used kindyglitz to highlight them and stamped the text "happy happy joy joy" and the date on the layout.

I used a date stamp on the background and a barcode stamp on one of the photos. And I used a stamp type font for the title.Lianne - I've stamped the background with an Autumn leaves stamp and different coloured ink pads and the little hearts beside the words LOVE.

I have used some stampin' UP background stamps for my background, added a stamped journaling block and some stamped flourishes and flower (stamped onto vellum and cut out). I love to stamp onto cardstock, vellum and acetate and cut them out. I often stamp extra and keep in a little container on my desk - handy for that finishing touch of any layout I am working on!

I've used a scroll stamp on the base (which isn't very visible now), plus a stamp where my journaling is and a Stampin' Up! word stamp as part of my journaling.

Vicky here :) Lately I've been thinking alot about my life Right Now....all the little bits that make up my day....as i was cooking dinner afew weeks ago I realised that i was in a moment that i never wanted to forget so I ran and grabbed my camera, set the timer, put the camera on the second shelf in the fridge (perfect height ;D) and went back to doing exactly what i was doing before, grumpy Arlo on hip, stiring dinner, Kaya hanging out in the cupboard
which leads me to your challenge;
Your dare, should you choose to accept it is to scrap a photo or photos from your everyday life.
It could be your family eating dinner together, you and your dog watching the news...just something you do pretty much every day...the catch is You and one other person (or pet) must be in the photo... Timers are really useful, as are neighbours/husbands/children....

Hi everyone - Donna here! In my family it's 'birthday season'! Some of the other Dare team members & I were discussing how we seem to put off scrapping those all important birthday layouts! Anyone else like that?

Why is that? I guess because with digital cameras we take soooo many photos and they tend to be 'busy' photos - lots going on in them and often such a variety of events for one birthday.

And so, our dare this week is to scrap a birthday layout - single or double and it must contain 5 or more photos!

So far, the layouts from the team are very varied - lots of different ideas. We can't wait to see yours.

I was guilty of not scrapping my son's 1st birthday photos! He turns 11 in a couple of months!! There was so much to his first birthday that I've broken it down into separate layouts. This one of the day prior, and there will be another double of the actual party. That suddenly made the task a lot easier.

This layout is as much about my perpspective of birthdays as it is about Amada's 6th birthday. Journaling reads "Okay so right from the start we (as in Ricky and I) said no big parties every year for you and Simon. Just the big milestones like 1, 5, 10, etc. I don’t mean not celebrate but just keep it quiet with Grandparents and a friend or two. And every year somehow I go back on it. I cant quite bring myself to not letting you have a party. This year we had a bbq with family and friends the day before your actual party. You even had a birthday cake plus birthday cupcakes! And then on the day you woke to the usual tradition of your presents on the table, decorated with tinsel and candles. After school you had 4 friends back for afternoon tea and a little bit of scrapbooking. That’s not really a party? Is it? I think I need to stop kidding myself and hey birthdays are made for celebrating BIG! And you seemed to enjoy your 6th birthday parties!"

"This LO is about "bevrijdingsfestival" (= dutch word). It is the day on which Holland celebrate our freedom. In 1940 Holland got involved in the second world war by the invasion of the Germans. On the 5th of may 1945 Holland was liberated by the allied. And nowadays we have music festival that day on which we celebrate that we can live in freedom"

Don't ya love the way she has used the Queen and Co felt flowers for her circle? Very clever! I'm also loving how Gwendolyn has swapped the photo composition around. That's the beauty of a sketch, you can take any part of it and use it for your inspiration.

Hi everyone,

Long time no see! Sometimes life gets in the way and our hobbies are the first things to go. But when you have had a long enforced break like I have it makes you realise a couple of things. Like, how scrapbooking enables you to maintain perspective. When you are constantly recording and reviewing life's events, it helps you to remember all the good stuff, all the connections and all the stories. Which helps. So, it really should be the last thing you give up.

Anyway, I digess. My dare tonight is to take inspiration from the media, an ad in fact. As soon as I saw this ad, I saw several things in it that gave me inspiration. When I sat down to scrap it, I think I used all of them as it is a very literal interpretation of it. But the colours reminded me of all the new products that had just come in at work, and then I realised I should do a layout a bout a change in career path and the fact that I am really enoying working around beautiful things and being more creative after so many years in the law firms.

The song is one that the kids used to sing at school last year. Last week I went on a school trip to the local Refuse Transfer Station. I must admit it made me realise I could do more with regards to recycling and reducing rubbish. And so along with the wonderful ad inspiration this layout was born!

This week it is another journalling focussed challenge (because we all LOVE journalling!) and we have a cool prize on offer too. My story is about Dad losing his watch haymaking one December. It was nowhere to be found and assumed lost + quite a big deal as watches were expensive back then! The following September he uncovered it in the hayshed, wound it up and away it went!

My story is one of regret. How being a silly little girl I refused to get in a photo and now wish I had. I don't have that many photos of Grandad and I, so its one of those lost moments. However, on the flip side at least I know I was there.

Welcome to Dare 39. I was on holiday taking a gazillion photos when I got an email from Lianne asking me what my dare was! I knew straight away what it would be - using 10 or more photos on a layout. It can be a single or double layout but requires 10 or more photos in total.

The prize ( a draw) will be a ShapeBoss from Fiskars. It is a super dooper system for dry embossing. Our favourite layout will get to be our guest designer for the dare after next.

I have used 15 photos on mine. I love to use a mix of horizontal and vertical photos as well as different sizes. The quote is from the brochure and I thought it said it so well I used that!

Hi Darers! It's new dare time again and as it is so close to Valentine's I thought we would kill two birds with one stone and create a Valentine's card dare with a twist. So here we go...your mission, should you choose to accept it...is to create a Valentine's card. But this card must include a photo of some description. Now this photo can be one you have taken or a stock photo you have downloaded, but the photo must be included on yo

The first one for this year was up to me so Ive decided to go with a little saying that always makes me smile.....i dare you to scrap about something that Tickles Your Fancy. Here's a little inspiration to get the ideas flowing

this is what tickled my fancy...I visit my Nana in a rest home every thursday, i get to hear all kinds of stories...this is a snippet of a conversation...i think i found it so funny because my Pop was always very slim while Nana is 'more generous' herself hehe, also i liked the thought of their young relationship not differing that much to ours, doesnt everyone worry about love handles?!?!? Everytime i think of this I smile.
i saved the photo from one of those frames with all the different shaped cut out, i think it had been in there for 15 years so is very faded. I stuck with the 80s look by using the wood panel type paper and sequins:)

Lianne - We drive past this sign in Pukekohe often and they always have a message on it, something to get you thinking. It always 'Tickles My Fancy'.

Now I have to pick my favourite page and boy was that hard. In the end I went for Denise and her Shape of Love page. I love how the editing of the photo echoes the title and what a super cool sillouette!

Dare 34 - Alter a Photo Digitally

Hello all and welcome to another dare! I'm Sharon and I do my scrapping digitally so I had to make it something to do with the computer! We have an awesome prize this week from Magistical Memories - these very cool chipboard shapes. In fact they have been so generous we are offering two prize draws this time. Check them out:

The challenge? Make a layout using a photo you have altered digitally. Now you don't need to be a Photoshop whizz to do this. For example, you could use a free program like Picasa (which is free) to turn your photo black and white or sepia or add a nice glow at the touch of a button or two. You could use Microsoft Paint. If you want to try something a little more challenging, download the trial version of Photoshop Elements - you get 30 days to try it out. Microsoft have a free progam you can download that lets you combine several images for the perfect group shot. Have fun and have a play - we dare you!!

I used Photoshop Elements to selectively colour the photos. I have posted a tutorial on my blog if you want to see how I did it.
This photo is actually a combination of two (someone always has to make a funny face). I also used this tutorial to get a bit more "punch" in the photo. Donna:
I have Microsoft Digital Image and used a Diffuse Glow filter to alter my black & white image. The original photo made my daughter's skin look really blotchy and I'd avoided scrapping it, but I love the new softer version!

Jo - I am totally in awe of the work of Jessica Dittmer (go here: http://www.wishyouwellsonline.com/main.html to see her stuff) and wanted to have a go and see if I could get a halfway decent approximation of what she does. Anyway, the photo in this layout is the result...

Monique - My layout was made using the very basics...I love this photo but the boys faces were in shadow so I lightened and brightened it a bit with my computers photo editing software...then I drew the little telephone embellishment onto the photo using Microsoft paint (and if this techno challenged person is right, I think all computers have this!) Once the photo was printed I I sliced around one edge of the telephone with my craft knife so the journaling box could be slipped under it….hardly fancy stuff!!! but using paint to draw on the photo was a lot of fun, and I can see myself using it again to create my own doodle effects.

Lesley - I have used photoshop elements to add a digital brush (from the Joni set 17). I have added a white frame to each of my photos.

Vicky- Im not much of a digi scrapper but i do edit most of my photos. I use photoshop and for this photo i ran a colour pop action on it (sorry i cant remember where i got it from) then played with the levels and curves until it was 'just right'.

Lianne - I used a photoshop action called Professional Retro from here:
and I've also added the original photo.

I made 2 copies of the photo. On one I added a colour pop action and also adjusted the brightness and contrast, then I added an Accented Edges filter which gives it a painted look but with kind of glowing edges as well. On the second copy I added a Graphic Pen Filter. Then I layered the 2 copies together with the Graphic Pen copy on top and erased the layer over Isla to show the Accented Edges copy through. I've added the original photo to so you can see the difference.

HI! Trina here with my take on this fortnights dare. And it was a great one to challenge me again. With this photo I lightened it, brightened it, adjusted the curves and contrast. I also enlarged it to 8x10 before cutting it to fit the circle. And on top of that for the LO itself I used some gorgeous chipboard from Magistical Memories. What I used is that cool big round frame, with the three little circles. Its called "Outside the bubble".

My favourite from this dare was Maggie Armstrong. Loved the pink and brown together Maggie, and I particularly liked the heart, and swirls across the bottom of the LO.

Hi everyone, Trina here. Welcome to this fortnights dare!

So the dare this week is all about colour. Or should I say two colours. Yes, we want you to create a LO that has ONLY two colours in it. There are no rules except that you can only use two colours. This may sound easy, but we've actually had quite a bit of fun with this one ourselves as we endeavour to use just two colours! (so many papers have more than two colours in them). We've decided to be kind... you can use a tiny bit of black or white in your journaling or title, but thats it. So put your thinking caps on and take a leaf from one of the contributers here and create a LO based on the colours they have used.

Trina - Pink and Orange

I just love this colour combo. Its so bright and fresh, but can give a real feeling of peace or relaxation should you want that too. Unfortunately due to my scan, the flocked vellum looks a little green/brown, but be assured, it is orange! LOL.

Carol is our very talented guest designer this month and here is her version of our dare. Thanks so much Carol. It looks great......

Jo My colour choices were orange and teal - I love how these two colours just pop together - great colours for boy or girl pages, but I chose to do a boy layout this time which is also a challenge for me! I had so much fun figuring out how to stick to just the two colours but was really pleased with the end result. Like Trina I found some of the colours were a little off after scanning but rest assured that what looks brown is in fact orange and what looks grey is in fact teal irl.

Donna - Green and Blue I love green & blue together, especially using a yellowed green to keep the combination from becoming too cold.

This wasn't as easy as you think. I've used lime green and red. I wanted to add white or black lines and coloured ribbon and maybe just one more colour LOL. But I am happy with the result. I dare you to have a go at only 2 colours with no black or white lines and no other colour. Look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Green and Purple, usually 2 of my favourite colour combinations. I just didn't realise how difficult it would be to ONLY use them. Great Dare, a real challenge.

Eggplant / Aubergine and Baby Blue - weird combination buy I found inspiration in this cool photo of my Nana and Pop - look at that dress! This dare was just right for the photo as it kept me to two colours without overwhelming the photo.

Funny thing as I rang my Nana (87 yrs old) to confirm the year this photo was taken she tells me she still has the dress! - I have to go and take a photo of the layout and the dress now!
